Take the mindset less traveled

About

Who is Jeremy Kowalski?

I’m Jeremy. I choose the road less traveled everyday.  Many choose the path where the external surroundings define their course of success, happiness and balance – or lack thereof.  I choose all 3.

6 years ago, I realized I wasn’t happy, successful or balanced.  But I also realized I was not alone.  Since then, I’ve decided to dedicate my life to finding and sharing true happiness, success and balance – at least by my definition.  Yep, I still work like everybody else.  But thanks to my wife, family, dog, friends, colleagues, authors, podcasters and most importantly – experiences, I fixed it.

Off The Beaten Mind is a combination of learnings, experiences and creativity to help the unfulfilled and unhappy seize each and every moment of their lives to the fullest.

What am I here for?

MISSION: To help people find a new mindset for traveling the journey of life.

happiness

Not temporary enjoyment. Lasting inner joy.

success

Creating success by your definition and nobody else’s.

balance

The cross-section between success and happiness: the secret to life.

Why Me?

It’s up to you to decide.  I don’t have a PHd.  I don’t have a masters.  I’m 35.  But I’m creative, I’m happy and at peace with my life.  I set meaningful goals & hit them regularly.  I love my wife – my soulmate.  My dog is my best friend.  I feel incredibly successful.  I love what’s in front of me & am grateful for what’s behind me.

And I’m a new content creator, and would love to hear from you.

Here is the resume that people don’t write:

  • Lemonade Stand – When not enough people stopped by to buy my Lemonade, I knocked on their doors.
  • Newspaper Route – Grabbed my little red wagon & hit the road everyday with the New Britain Herald.
  • Neighborhood Lawn Mowing/Snow-Shoveling – Had my 5 clients & pocketed some nice cash. Thanks Dad for helping!
  • Candy-Bar Salesman – When offered $500 gift certificate to Dicks for selling the most candy bars – I made it a mission to win.  I did.
  • JMU Duke – Yes I did graduate from College.
  • Innovative Bag Boy – When I wasn’t making enough in tips sitting by the cart barn, I started washing clubs while people we’re putting on the 18th green, they didn’t really have a choice but to pay me then.  Tips skyrocketed.
  • Late for my First Interview Ever – Yep, good start!  Didn’t get the job, in case you’re wondering.
  • Real Job 1 – First job out of college at a big bank.  Tried as hard as I could to automate my job so I didn’t lose it.
  • WoooCrew!– My unsuccessful attempt with friends to start a business.  We made lots of Koozies and we did a Bar Crawl through New York City.  Life-long profit, $50.
  • Real Job 2 – After 7 years & a lay-off, took a rip at the “start up” lifestyle.  Great gig & taught me everything I know about Sales & business.  Thanks All.
  • Unfulfilled & Unhappy – Yep, hit the brick wall.  Couldn’t figure out what direction I wanted to go.  No clue!  Started aggressively reading personal improvement books (always have, just at a faster rate).
  • My First Real New Years Plan – I started making & hitting big goals.  After the first year doing this, it made me realize how much better it feels to write down something & then cross it off.  Especially when it’s BIG.
  • Real Job 3 – Went to big blue – IBM.  Learned real enterprise business and started my path to the world of high-tech.  Wonderful company & opportunity.
  • Married in Cancun – Thanks for everything Vanessa.  I wouldn’t want to share life with anybody but you.
  • Meditation – Thanks to a colleague at IBM, I found Headspace and added what would become a daily 10-20 minute staple for me to find constant peace.
  • Got a Dog – He’s not just a dog.  He’s my buddy.  Learn from him everyday.
  • Real Job 4 – Took a better rip at unpacking what I really wanted & landed another good tech job.  From a “work” perspective, I was starting to move in the right direction.
  • “Things to Learn from a Dog” – I decided I wanted to take a crack at writing.  I posted my first article ever
  • Bahamas Trip – Jobless, but not a worry in the world.  Also, the day I realized I would own a house in Eleuthra, The Bahamas one day.  Yep – still on the list!
  • COVID-19 – Sucked for me & everybody else.  Took the glass half full route.  I deeply reflected even further on what I wanted to do next for work & career.  I greatly enjoyed the opportunity to spend more time with my wife and dog.
  • Real Job 5 (Current) – Contrary to expectations, I managed to find a new job in April this year.  Salesforce.  Greatest place I’ve ever worked.
  • Off The Beaten Mind – You’re reading it.  I launched my website!
